Licensing Model

Several factors determine the licenses you need for RouteMaster VR.

Number of routers

Each RouteMaster VR license allows control of one physical router. If you want to control more than one router from a single RouteMaster VR installation, you will need additional licenses.

Number of simultaneous client connections

Each RouteMaster VR license specifies a number of simultaneous clients that the system can accept. Each Web panel or Helm panel that is open, and each RS-232/422 connection or TCP/IP socket connection into RouteMaster VR counts as one client. Connections from RouteMaster VR to the controlled router are not counted.

Client licenses are available for 8, 16, 32, and 64 clients. Additional licenses can be purchased later to support extra clients.

Number of sources and destinations on the router

Basic RouteMaster VR supports routers up to 64×64. RouteMaster VR can be expanded to support routers up to 8192x8192 with additional licenses.

files are installed by copying them into the appropriate application directory. For RouteMaster VR, this is typically C:/Program Files/Rascular/RouteMaster VR.

If no valid license file is installed, RouteMaster VR runs in a Demo mode with only the Dummy Router available. All client protocols can still be used and evaluated.

Additional Features

Some features like High Availability and Source Failover require additional licenses. These features will be disabled or invisible if the license does not include them.

Moving Licenses to other PCs

Some RouteMaster VR licenses are locked to a specific IP or MAC address. If you need to move these licenses to another PC, you will need a new license file. Rascular can provide these for you.

Upgrading Software

If you install a newer version of RouteMaster VR over an earlier version, all your licensing details are preserved.

Upgrading your License

If you need to purchase additional licenses to control more routers or other devices, or to run the software on additional PCs, please contact Rascular.

Temporary Licenses

If you want to evaluate the software fully, Rascular can issue a time-limited license for RouteMaster VR.
